Sector 13 Haunted Woods launch official Steam artwork

Sector 13 Haunted Woods Hits 30,000 Wishlists Before a 2-Dev Launch

Sector 13 Haunted Woods launches on Steam today after passing 30,000 wishlists, a striking number for a two-person sibling team. The hook is clean: one to four players enter a cursed open-world forest, investigate anomalies, recover artifacts, and manage the risk created by a microphone-aware horror system.

Sector 13 Haunted Woods turned demo feedback into a bigger 1.0

Game Inside Studio says the game crossed 20,000 wishlists on September 13 and 30,000 on September 21. That is 10,000 additional wishlists in eight days just before launch. Wishlist numbers are not sales, but for a tiny team they are a meaningful signal that the concept has found an audience.

The developers say feedback from the Steam Next Fest demo shaped the full release. Version 1.0 expands the forest, adds more than 100 anomalies, new ghosts, puzzles, minigames, a collection gallery, a ghost counterattack system, teammate location tools, microphone selection and improved optimization.

The best hook is your own voice

Sector 13 Haunted Woods supports proximity voice chat and microphone detection. Your group needs communication to solve puzzles and coordinate artifact recovery, but speaking can also attract threats. That creates a social horror loop where a panicked reaction can immediately complicate the mission.

The Steam description also promises dynamic jumpscares and enemies that react to player behavior. We have not played the finished build, so those claims should be treated as the developer’s design pitch rather than a ZerotoBeast performance verdict.

What you actually do in the woods

You play a field operative sent into a sealed forest to recover forbidden artifacts and track anomalies using specialized equipment. A mission is only complete when every required artifact has been recovered and delivered.

That gives Sector 13 Haunted Woods more structure than simply wandering around waiting for the next scare. The anomaly hunt, artifact extraction, puzzles and voice-risk system all push players toward exploration and coordination.

Solo works, but co-op is clearly the main event

Steam lists both single-player and online co-op for up to four players. The proximity chat and teammate systems make the co-op fantasy the obvious centerpiece, though solo support gives cautious players a way to learn the map without three friends turning every hallway into a podcast.

The minimum PC target is a Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel i7-6700, 16 GB RAM and an RX 5700 8 GB or GTX 1070 Ti 8 GB, with an SSD recommended. Recommended memory rises to 32 GB and the GPU target to an RX 6600 XT or RTX 3060.

What we still do not know at launch

The store page had no user-review score at the time of our morning check, so there is not enough post-launch evidence yet to judge stability, networking quality, voice detection reliability or whether the expanded map stays interesting after several runs. Those are the exact things we would watch before giving a hard buy recommendation.

The studio says it improved forest optimization and overall performance for 1.0. That is encouraging, but performance claims deserve independent player data after release, especially for a co-op game where network behavior is part of the experience.

Who should put this on the radar?

If your group likes communication-heavy co-op horror, open exploration and games that turn panic into a mechanic, Sector 13 Haunted Woods has a clean hook. If you need a heavily scripted cinematic campaign or dislike voice-dependent social systems, wait for player reviews before jumping in.

ZerotoBeast take: 30,000 wishlists do not guarantee a hit, but the growth is impressive for two developers and the microphone-risk mechanic gives this launch a reason to stand out in a crowded co-op horror field.
