Steam Autumn Sale game deals are unusually aggressive this weekend, with several excellent games sitting at 80% to 90% off through October 8. We checked the live Steam listings and picked five offers that are currently active, materially discounted, and not repeats of yesterday’s current-sale roundup. Prices below are USD and can vary by region. Open Valve’s Steam Autumn Sale announcement.
This list is deliberately not five random cheap games. Each pick has a clear reason to buy at the current price, plus a caveat worth knowing before you add another title to the backlog. These Steam Autumn Sale game deals run during Valve’s October 1 to October 8 event, which Valve says ends at 10 a.m. Pacific on October 8. Browse the live Steam storefront.
1. MONSTER HUNTER RISE: $39.99 to $3.99, 90% off
MONSTER HUNTER RISE is the easiest recommendation in this list if you want combat that keeps rewarding practice. The loop is pure Monster Hunter: track a giant creature, learn its attacks, break parts, carve materials, craft stronger gear, then take on something nastier. Rise makes that loop faster and more mobile with Wirebugs, wall-running and Palamutes, so hunts waste less time getting you back into the action. At $3.99, the base game is cheap enough to be a low-risk entry point for players who have always wondered whether the series will click. Get MONSTER HUNTER RISE on Steam.
The caveat is that the base game is only part of the modern Rise package. The huge Sunbreak expansion is separate, although Steam currently lists the Rise + Sunbreak bundle at $9.59, 84% off. The game can also feel systems-heavy in its opening hours, with crafting, buddies, skills and tutorials arriving quickly. If you enjoy boss-focused action and gear progression, though, this is a ridiculous amount of hunting for four dollars. The Steam offer ends October 8. Compare the Rise editions on Steam.
2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition: $39.99 to $3.99, 90% off
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is still one of the easiest open-world RPGs to disappear into because it lets you decide what the adventure is about. Follow the dragon crisis, ignore it for 40 hours, join guilds, clear caves, collect houses, become a thief, build a mage, or turn the game into something almost unrecognizable with mods. Special Edition includes the Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn add-ons, so the $3.99 sale price buys a genuinely enormous single-player package. Get Skyrim Special Edition on Steam.
The obvious caveat is age. Its combat and animation are not going to feel like a 2026 action RPG, and Bethesda’s familiar quirks have not vanished. There is also a separate Anniversary Edition with additional Creation Club content, currently $16.49 on the same Steam page. Still, if your question is simply “how much RPG can I get for four dollars?”, this is one of the strongest answers in the entire sale. The 90% discount ends October 8. Check the Skyrim editions and current Steam price.
3. The Outlast Trials: $39.99 to $3.99, 90% off
The Outlast Trials turns Outlast’s helpless horror into a social pressure cooker. You and up to three other test subjects are trapped in Murkoff’s Cold War experiments, sneaking through grotesque Trials, completing objectives and trying not to become the loudest person in the room when something starts chasing the group. It works solo, but co-op is the real hook: one player can distract a threat while another handles an objective, revives a teammate or uses a Rig ability to create an escape. At $3.99, it is an easy group-night experiment. Get The Outlast Trials on Steam.
The caveat is that this is structured around repeatable Trials rather than the tightly authored linear campaign of the first Outlast. That repetition is part of the progression loop, and players who only want a one-and-done horror story may prefer the older games. Steam also notes Easy Anti-Cheat and a third-party EULA. For a co-op group that enjoys stealth, panic and terrible decisions shouted over voice chat, however, 90% off is hard to ignore. The offer ends October 8. Check The Outlast Trials deal on Steam.
4. Resident Evil 2: $39.99 to $7.99, 80% off
Resident Evil 2 is survival horror built around pressure rather than constant combat. Raccoon City Police Department is a puzzle box full of locked routes, limited ammunition and enemies that are expensive to put down permanently. Leon and Claire provide different campaign routes, while Mr. X turns familiar hallways into improvised escape plans once he starts stalking the station. The remake modernizes shooting and movement without removing the resource-management tension that made the original work. At $7.99, it is a strong October pick even if you normally avoid horror. Get Resident Evil 2 on Steam.
The caveat is that this is intentionally stressful. Backtracking, inventory limits and conserving ammunition are central to the design, so players looking for an action-first Resident Evil may prefer Resident Evil 4. Steam also has the Deluxe Edition at $9.99 and the Raccoon City Edition, which adds Resident Evil 3 and Resistance, at $11.99. Those bundles may be the smarter buy depending on how much horror you want. The current 80% offer ends October 8. Compare Resident Evil 2 editions on Steam.
5. Dead Space: $59.99 to $11.99, 80% off
Dead Space is the expensive-looking game in this roundup that has finally entered impulse-buy territory. Motive’s remake keeps the USG Ishimura’s industrial nightmare intact but rebuilds the ship with modern visuals, seamless traversal and expanded side content. Combat is about dismemberment rather than center-mass shooting, so every Necromorph becomes a fast targeting problem while the sound design keeps convincing you that something is moving behind the wall. If you want a polished single-player horror game with a strong campaign, $11.99 is a compelling price. Get Dead Space on Steam.
The caveat is simple: this is still a deliberately oppressive horror game, and it is also available through EA Play, which may be better value if you already subscribe or want to sample other EA games. Steam lists the Deluxe Edition at $13.99, only two dollars more, with cosmetic suits included. Neither version needs the Deluxe extras to enjoy the campaign. The 80% discount ends October 8.
