The Metro Redux resolution fix is a released PC hotfix for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux. The publisher says it corrects detection of higher resolutions and a disappearing Steam Overlay, alongside three other named issues. Update the correct storefront version, then retest your original symptom before changing several graphics settings.
Verified October 23, 2026. We have not tested the update. The steps below separate the publisher’s fixes from a suggested verification process.
1. Match the Metro Redux resolution fix to your PC edition
The October 23 hotfix notice explicitly concerns the next-gen PC versions of both Redux titles. Its other listed fixes cover the unavailable Deep Silver account comic reward, Epic Games Store achievements and Ukrainian text rendering. Those are specific changes, rather than a promise to solve every crash or improve every PC’s frame rate.
The publisher’s updated article repeats the hotfix and version numbers. Its broader next-gen notes also discuss console changes. Keep that older, wider update separate from this PC hotfix when deciding whether a listed fix matches your platform.
2. Compare the build with the right storefront
| PC storefront | Metro 2033 Redux | Metro Last Light Redux |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | 26159616 | 26159638 |
| Epic | 0.1.0.28 | 0.1.0.28 |
| GOG | 3.0.0.19 | 3.0.0.19 |
These are the numbers printed in the hotfix notice. Steam build identifiers and the other stores’ version strings are different schemes, so do not compare their numbers as if a larger value meant a newer edition. Let your storefront complete its update, close the game and launch it again. If your installed version differs, record the game, store and number before reporting it.

3. Retest one display or overlay symptom
For a missing resolution, record the monitor’s resolution and the options actually offered by the game. After updating, check that same menu and the same display mode. If the original issue was the Steam Overlay disappearing, test the overlay in the Steam version rather than treating an Epic achievement problem as the same fault.
Change one variable at a time. A screenshot of the available resolutions and the installed build makes a more useful report than a list of unrelated tweaks. The notice does not establish that custom launch flags, a driver rollback or deleting configuration files are required.
4. Consider the documented legacy branch for an under-spec PC
The original next-gen announcement offers Steam and GOG legacy branches for PCs that do not meet the new specifications. It names metro_2033_redux_legacy and metro_last_light_redux_legacy. Select the branch belonging to the game you own through that storefront’s supported branch controls.
This is a compatibility option separate from installing the new hotfix. The announcement does not provide equivalent Epic legacy instructions, or a universal save-compatibility guarantee for switching branches. Check the current official instructions and preserve your existing progress before deciding to switch. Do not assume the legacy edition receives the same new features or version number.

5. Keep the Microsoft Store save warning in view
The publisher’s Microsoft Store upgrade note says saves do not carry over to the upgraded version and recommends a New Game. Chapter select is unlocked, but starting a chapter supplies a default equipment set. That is not restoration of your old inventory or checkpoint state, and it is not a general warning that Steam, Epic and GOG all lose saves.
If a matching problem persists after the correct update, send the title, storefront, build, hardware and repeatable trigger to official Metro support. For other PC issues, start with our PC coverage and choose a guide that matches the actual platform and symptom.
