Xbox Mythic Achievements for Xbox Insiders

Xbox Mythic Achievements Are Live for Insiders: 6 Things Completionists Need to Know

Xbox Mythic Achievements are now available for Xbox Insiders, giving completionists a new way to mark games they have fully finished without demanding every DLC achievement forever. The rule is clean: complete all original achievements for a game and it can earn Mythic status. Achievements added later through DLC or updates do not count toward that requirement. Read the official Xbox Mythic Achievements announcement.

The feature is bigger than a new badge animation. Xbox Mythic Achievements also change how completed games appear on profiles, add progress tracking and apply retroactively to eligible games you already finished, including Xbox 360 titles. That turns years of old achievement history into something the new system can actually recognize. See how Xbox Mythic Achievements work on Xbox Wire.

Xbox Mythic Achievements only require the original achievement set

The smartest design decision is what Xbox Mythic Achievements do not require. Xbox says DLC and update-added achievements are excluded from the completion condition. That means a game cannot yank your Mythic status away because an expansion arrives six months later with another 500 Gamerscore. Once Mythic is earned, Xbox says it is yours to keep. Review the official Xbox Mythic Achievements rules.

This is especially important for long-running games, where “100 percent” can otherwise become a moving target. The caveat is that Xbox has not announced a broad public rollout date in this update. Right now, this is an Insider preview, so non-Insiders should not read “available” as “already live on every console.” Check current Xbox Mythic Achievements Insider availability.

Your old completions can become Mythic retroactively

Xbox Mythic Achievements are being added to eligible games completed in the past, including Xbox 360 titles. That is the feature that turns this from a future-facing badge into a history project. People who spent years finishing old games do not have to replay them just to make the new profile system acknowledge the work. Read Xbox’s explanation of retroactive Mythic credit.

Xbox also adds a Gaming tab to profiles where you can see achievements, your next Gamerscore milestone badge, completed games and your Mythic count. Friends’ Gaming tabs are visible too, so the system doubles as a way to compare what people have actually finished rather than only comparing raw Gamerscore totals. See the Gaming tab details on Xbox Wire.

Progress tracking finally tells you what actually counts

When you are still working toward Xbox Mythic Achievements, a progress bar at the top of each game’s achievement list shows how close you are. Xbox says players can focus on the original achievements still missing, while add-on achievements are clearly tagged so the completion target is easier to understand. Similar progress information also appears in Guide and Achievement details. See the Xbox Mythic Achievements progress UI.

That sounds like a minor interface change until you have a game with years of title updates and DLC mixed into one achievement list. Separating the original completion target removes a lot of unnecessary detective work. The remaining question is how consistently legacy games and unusual achievement structures behave during the Insider test. That is exactly the kind of edge case the preview phase is meant to expose. How to try Xbox Mythic Achievements now

If you are already an Xbox Insider, the feature is part of the current preview rollout described by Xbox. If you are not, Microsoft points players to the Xbox Insider Hub on Xbox consoles or Windows PC to join the program and provide feedback. Joining an Insider program can mean testing unfinished features, so treat this as an early-access system feature, not a finished universal release.
