Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is the month’s pure “what on earth am I looking at?” option. The square Earth is under attack, classic EDF enemies have been rebuilt as voxel monsters, and your squad is assembled from characters collected across the series. You pick four teammates, choose equipment and swap around a deliberately absurd roster while enormous insects and other threats flood the screen. It supports four-player online co-op and two-player local split screen on both PS5 and PS4, which gives it a very different use case from the other two games. The caveat is taste: EDF’s charm comes from excess, repetition and B-movie silliness. If you need restrained storytelling and pristine realism, this is aggressively not that game.
