Astrea Six Sided Oracles, one of the Epic Games Store free games for September 24 to October 1, 2026

Epic Games Store Free Games: Astrea and Mechabellum Are Free Until October 1

The Epic Games Store free games for this week are Astrea: Six Sided Oracles and Mechabellum, and both are free to keep through October 1, 2026. If you claim them before the weekly reset, they stay in your Epic library permanently. Together, the two games normally cost $39.98 USD, so this is one of those weeks where clicking two blue buttons saves you forty bucks and creates another tiny problem called “my backlog.”

Epic’s official store pages currently list Astrea: Six Sided Oracles at $24.99 USD and Mechabellum at $14.99 USD, with both discounted to free. The giveaway runs from September 24 through October 1, 2026, with the regular Thursday reset at 11:00 AM ET.

Astrea: Six Sided Oracles is the weird dice roguelike you should not ignore

Astrea looks like a deckbuilder at first glance, then immediately throws the cards away and replaces them with dice. The result is a turn-based roguelike where your “deck” is a pool of more than 350 customizable dice, and the interesting part is that good and bad outcomes are built directly into the combat system.

The core idea revolves around Purification and Corruption. Purification can hurt enemies or heal you. Corruption can hurt you or heal enemies, but taking Corruption can also activate powerful abilities. That creates a constant risk-reward loop where a bad-looking roll can sometimes be exactly what you wanted.

You can choose from six Oracles with different playstyles, modify individual die faces, collect Blessings, and use support Sentinels that add more dice manipulation to fights. Epic currently lists the game for Windows and normally prices it at $24.99 USD.

Mechabellum is for people who want strategy without the clickfest

Mechabellum goes in almost the opposite direction. Instead of dice, you get giant armies of machines, formation planning, unit counters, tech upgrades, and enormous automated battles where your decisions happen before and between the explosions.

The game supports 1v1 and 2v2 battles, free-for-all matches, tournaments, and Survival modes against AI waves. You draft an army, place your units, predict what the opponent is building, then upgrade or reposition your force to counter them. Epic describes it very simply: all strategy, no clickfest.

That makes Mechabellum a particularly interesting free claim if you like competitive strategy but do not want a traditional RTS demanding 300 actions per minute from your hands. It normally costs $14.99 USD on Epic and is available for Windows.

Which Epic free game should you try first?

If you want a single-player roguelike that rewards experimentation, Astrea is the obvious first download. Its dice system is unusual enough that even people who have played too many deckbuilders may find something fresh here.

If you would rather outthink another player, build absurd mech armies, and watch your plan either work beautifully or collapse in a shower of expensive metal, start with Mechabellum. The two games barely overlap in genre, which is exactly why this week’s giveaway works so well.

Either way, claim both. You do not need to install them now. Add them to your library before the deadline and decide what Future You is doing with that increasingly irresponsible backlog later.

What replaces Astrea and Mechabellum next week?

Epic’s official free games page already shows the next giveaway. Starting October 1, BURIED STARS and System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster are scheduled to become the next free Epic Games Store games through October 8.

That upcoming pair is dramatically different again. BURIED STARS is a story-driven mystery adventure, while System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster brings back the influential sci-fi horror RPG. We will verify the live listings again when the next weekly giveaway actually begins.

Do not miss the October 1 deadline

The current Epic Games Store free games are available only for this weekly claim window. Astrea: Six Sided Oracles and Mechabellum are free from September 24 through October 1, 2026. After the reset, they return to their normal paid listings and the next pair takes over.
